Cardinals Baseball Tryout Policies
Tryout fee must be paid in full before the player is allowed on the field.
Tryout fee is non refundable, even if the player chooses not to attend the tryout.
Evaluation is based on skills, sportsmanship, and knowledge of the game.
How Teams are Formed:
Players tryout for the team
Coaches evaluate all players and determine who made the team
Coaches contact successful players/parents via phone, offering a spot on the team
Players/parents have 24-hours to accept their spot on the team
Player/parent pays first instalment of their fees
Players who do not make the team will be contacted by the coaches via email after teams are formed
Cardinals Baseball Refund Policy
There are no refunds for tryouts.
Cardinals Baseball has a tryout process so once teams are picked and spots accepted there will be NO refunds Including tournament specific teams.
Zero-Tolerance Policy for Abuse of Coaches and Umpires
The Calgary Cardinals Baseball Association is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and spectators. Baseball is built on respect, sportsmanship, and integrity, and all members of our association are expected to uphold these values at all times.
Zero-Tolerance Standard
The Calgary Cardinals have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of abuse, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or threatening behaviour directed toward coaches, assistant coaches, umpires, volunteers, league officials, players, or association representatives.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Verbal abuse, profanity, or personal attacks.
Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
Harassment in person, by phone, text message, email, or through social media.
Publicly criticizing or attempting to discredit coaches, umpires, or association volunteers.
Aggressive confrontations before, during, or after games or practices.
Encouraging others to engage in abusive or disrespectful behaviour.
Parent and Spectator Responsibility
Parents, guardians, family members, and spectators are expected to model respectful behaviour at all times. They must allow coaches to coach, players to play, and umpires to officiate without interference or abuse.
Parents and spectators are responsible for their own conduct and may face disciplinary action, including removal from games, suspension from attending team activities, or further sanctions imposed by the Association.
Player Responsibility
Players are expected to treat coaches, teammates, opponents, and umpires with respect at all times. Unsportsmanlike conduct, abusive language, disrespectful actions, or behaviour that reflects poorly on the Association will not be tolerated.
Disciplinary Action
Any reported incident will be reviewed by the Calgary Cardinals Executive. Depending on the severity of the incident, disciplinary action may include:
Verbal or written warning.
Suspension from practices or games.
Suspension of a parent or spectator from attending Association events.
Removal of coaching or volunteer privileges.
Immediate removal of a player from a game or practice.
Removal of a player from their Calgary Cardinals team without refund when the player, or a parent/guardian acting on the player's behalf, engages in abusive behaviour toward coaches, umpires, volunteers, or Association officials.
The Calgary Cardinals Executive reserves the right to determine appropriate disciplinary measures based on the nature and severity of each incident. Serious incidents may result in immediate dismissal from the Association.
Commitment
By registering with the Calgary Cardinals Baseball Association, all players, parents/guardians, coaches, and volunteers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Zero-Tolerance Policy. Respect for the game and for one another is a condition of participation in the Calgary Cardinals Baseball Association.
If the season is shortened or canceled Cardinals Baseball will look at a pro rated refund but is not guaranteed. This will be determined by the executive. Many factors will be discussed like apparel , supplies currently bought and league operation fees.
